Six months of 2011 have passed and it’s the perfect time to ramp up your efforts to meet your fitness goals. You may not have known it existed, but a Walled Lake boot camp is the perfect way to see dramatic results in a short period of time, meet other fitness-minded people, reach your ideal target weight, and get motivated to challenge yourself.
BOOT CAMPS ARE BEST FOR:
• People who are in fairly decent shape
• People who would like to lose 10-20 pounds
• People who do not have pre-existing conditions
• People who do not have major physical limitations
WHAT HAPPENS AT BOOT CAMPS:
Boot camps take place in a group setting, which some people really like because it motivates them to try harder. Other exercisers like having the opportunity to network with other fitness-minded people who actually go to the gym. Having a coach as a mentor is very inspiring for people who are generally not very motivated. Some incorporate exercise balls, weights, exercise bands, jump ropes, and obstacle courses — while others use only one’s own body weight and exercises like push-ups, sit-ups, squats, or jumping jacks. Regardless, you can count on a combination of cardiovascular and strength training exercises. It’s a bit like interval training, where you’ll have a few minutes of very heavy intensity followed by a minute of recovery. As you may know, that sort of workout really burns fat like you wouldn’t believe!
CHOOSING A CLASS
Classes vary widely, so choosing a boot camp isn’t always easy. For instance, some boot camps are held indoors, while others are outdoors. You may find one boot camp program that is aimed at fast weight loss and dramatic results over a short period of time. Another boot camp may be offered all-year-round for intense workouts and weight management. Ideally, you’ll want to find a class that has 15 or fewer participants so you can be assured a little bit of individual attention. You’ll also want to find out what sort of fitness level the classes are geared toward, as some are harder than others. Many fitness instructors will let you try a boot camp class before signing up for the full program, which can be a great way to decide whether boot camp fitness is for you or not.
